Take a trip to Maldon on the steam train! Return trip tickets can be purchased online and can a great all day activity. The steam train drops you in Maldon mid day to explore the local historic town for a couple of hours before returning you to Castlemaine station. If you want to catch the steam train going past the studio; it goes past on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sunday’s at 11.30am and returns again a bit before 3.30pm.

The Victorian Goldfields Railway is a historic steam train that runs between Castlemaine and Maldon. Beautiful views, beautiful historic carriages and full bar service on the trains. You can pay extra to have a ‘drive a steam train’ experience. A great day out for the family, you can buy either return or one way tickets. Then cycle or hike the other way on the rail trail that runs the whole length of the trip from Castlemaine to Maldon.
