A walk away from this historic inn where there is a great selection of food and beers.
If you fancy a long walk with a pub at the end - this is the one. Head over the top of Arthur's Seat or round the road at the side and then dip down to Duddingston. It's worth wearing trainers or wellies as it can be muddy. The Sheep Heid Inn is the oldest surviving pub in Scotland - the food is delicious and it has a lovely beer garden, as well as a bowling alley.

This pub/restaurant is a bit of a tourist trap but for good reasons. It’s situated in gorgeous, historic Duddingston Village at the bottom of Arthur’s Seat, and lays claim to being the oldest pub in Scotland. It features a vintage skittle alley, which is especially fun after a few pints (but book ahead).
The Queen (HRH Elizabeth II) dropped in to this hostelry for a tipple a few years back
A pub and skittle alley located in the historic Duddingston Village area of Edinburgh. There has reputedly been a pub on this spot selling liquor and victuals since 1360 and if this foundation date is correct, it would make The Sheep Heid Inn perhaps the oldest surviving licensed premises in Edinburgh, if not Scotland.
