OOAK stands for One of a Kind and it's so true! A beautiful gallery with all hand crafted work from the area. Kari is an attentive owner who knows how to display craft work in a delightful way. Her husband, David, is a fine musician and instrument repair professional. Saturday mornings a group of musicians gather and jam in the loft of the gallery.

One of a Kind Gallery has a lovely selection of arts and crafts from the area. Yancey County has the highest artisan population per capita in the country, and there are some excellent finds to be had!

This is a local art store, hooked to Maples, that always wins my heart. There are soooo many different mediums of art for sale here, from two giant walls full of local ceramic artists work-- to hand carved hiking sticks, to beautiful jewelry, to wildly creative lamps, to printmaking. They have it all, and live music many nights!
