At the Dubbo Observatory you can view the planets, stars and galaxies through telescopes at night including their new large 17 inch telescope. Be informed and entertained with the 75 minute program that commences with a presentation by local astronomer, Peter Starr, then venture out into the night sky and view the stars through the telescopes. Astro-photography is also available with your own Canon or Nikon SLR cameras. A gift shop is available where you can purchase astronomy books and gifts. Take astro-photographs online from home using their new 17 inch telescope.

Close to home, is very informative and their are several telescopes for star viewing on a clear night it is worth a visit. You have to get your tickets on line. Of course if it is a clear night you can just stay home and enjoy our own little patch of sky including the Milky Way for free but without the commentary. RFDS the new visitor centre is terrific and the cafe is good and so is the souvenir shop. If you have the time then it is well worth a visit.
