Judson Memorial Church

It’s the birthplace of postmodern dance. In the early 1960s, Yvonne Rainer, Steve Paxton, Bob Morris, Simone Forti, and others revolutionized the form right here. The late-19th-century interior is stunning and cavernous—it’s an amazing place to see work. I’ve been a Movement Research Artist-in-Residence here and have performed here many times. They offer free weekly performances most Monday evenings.
