Any season you will find the shoreline lovely, but a vintage lighthouse and life-boat launch is always a spectacle. Tours can be arranged, and a walk up the lighthouse steps lends a great view of the coastline, and a giant fresnel lens, from a by-gone era. This peninsula has sighted, saved, and stood upon a rocky coastline for over a century, and it is a lovely point upon the end of a great public 9 Hole golf course, known as Shoop Park Golf Course. Officially located in Wind Point Wisconsin this is a short bike ride, a long walk, or a quick drive along the shore from our cottage.

The Windpoint Lighthouse is a 6 mile drive from DeKoven Center. The lighthouse stands 108ft tall and is one of the oldest and tallest active lighthouses on the Great Lakes. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

This is a local favorite and a must-see for visitors. One of the few remaining working lighthouses, tours are available although limited during summer hours. The grounds are beautiful. A replica of the foghorn building is open during visiting hours.
