Historical Castle. All of Irish history changed from this wonderful place. Beautiful visitors centre with tapestry depicting the history of the town.

A view from the top of Ferns castle is well worth it. Its free. You can see the major vantage points over the region from a medieval perspective. The next is Vinegar Hill

6km away is the Historic Ferns Castle. Pre covid the free tour took you inside the castle and up to the roof but now there are outside tours run by the amazing Larry who is a font of knowledge and so friendly and the tours usually last 10 mins. The visitor centre has an amazing tapestry woven by local people depicting the historic events at the Castle. Just across the road you can get snacks drinks and ice creams and sit on the grass for a picnic before visiting the rest of historic Ferns.
