Burns Memorial Bridge, 2015, named after former Shrewsbury Police Chief ] you cross into Shrewsbury goes over Lake Quinsigamond. The road you're on when you cross the bridge is also called Route 9 or Boston Turnpike and stretches 135 miles from Boston to Pittsfield. The portion from Worcester to Boston was originally the Worcester Turnpike and opened in 1810. If you turn right before crossing the bridge you can go on to Alvarado Ave to Lake Park, which is also part of Quinsigamond State Park.
