"Kyoto Art Center is a venue for exchange and mutual stimulus among artists. This program supports the creative activities of artists and researchers in the arts, who aim to derive new artistic expression from exposure to another culture. Participants in the program create and research arts while based at Kyoto Art Center. The Center aims also to serve as a place where Kyoto citizens can encounter different forms of artistic expression. Kyoto Art Center welcomes artists who wish to experiment with new forms of expression within a genre, or to step beyond a genre. The Center is particularly interested in working with those who have the desire to build rapport with Kyoto citizens. Kyoto Art Center’s Artist-in-Residence Program offers support to emerging artists and art researchers who wish to pursue creative activities in Kyoto. They call for applications from the artists/researchers in performing arts and visual arts alternately. In 2015, the program is open to the artists and researchers working in visual arts."
