You can catch the number 7 bus from Powell and Jackson and take it all the way to 4th and Alma which will bring you within walking distance of Jericho beach. 7, that said, it would be a very long bus ride so would recommend looking into bike rentals or getting a ride share one of the ways. I really like this area as you can walk along a path past numerous beaches all the way to West Spanish Banks, where at low tide the sandy beach is very impressive.
