Hot chicken is the quintessential dish of Music City and the original can be found at Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack. It’s exactly what it sounds like: it’s hot (spicy) chicken, skillet-fried, and served in a shack. The cool part about Prince’s HCS is that you can pick a level of spicy- MEDIUM IS PRETTY SPICY, but you asked for hot chicken and that’s what you’re gonna get! The accoutrements that accompany the hot chicken is cool flavors: mustard potato salad, pickles… FYI, there is a huge crowd during regular dining hours so be prepared to wait for a table. Also, there is no restrooms, but there’s a huge shopping center with bathrooms across the street. They’re open til 4am on weekends too!

It is widely considered the originator of the Hot Chicken Craze...this location is small but serves the best HC in town.
