The Drum Tower is a cool old relic that is easy to check out on the same day as a trip to Hou Hai or Nanluoguxiang. The Bell Tower is also across the street but not as spectacular so feel free to miss.

Go check out the old Beijing alarm clock! Maybe if you're lucky you can bang on one. Go to the courtyard between the Drum and Bell to check out the locals practicing their shuttlecock and whipping.
