Bracelet making in 100-year-old building
We will begin with a peek in the Boutique, featuring jewelry handcrafted by award-winning US artists, and a behind-the-scenes look at my working jewelry studio. I will also share some history of my 1890 building, including a copy of the handwritten deed to the original house. In the workshop you will use a combination of specialized jeweler's hand tools (the same that were used to make jewelry in the 19th century) and modern equipment to make your bracelet. First, you will hammer steel letter stamps to impress inspirational words, phrases, and designs of your choice onto a copper strip. Then, you will form the strip into a cuff bracelet with hammers and steel tools, oxidize (blacken) the metal, and polish to your desired finish. You will go home with a meaningful piece of jewelry that you created with your own hands. We limit the workshop to four students to guarantee lots of personal instruction, as well as the opportunity to get to know your classmates. You can relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Other things to note Our studio workstations are separated by plexiglass barriers. Hand sanitizer, masks, and disposable smocks are available. Unfortunately, our Victorian-era building is not fully accessible to the handicapped.

You will climb steps and open doors into areas where the public is not normally granted access, be shown unique vantage points to view and photograph the station, gain up-close looks at the magnificent details and ornamentation of the station, as well as learn what is being done today to preserve Union Station for years to come. Taste of Georgetown: Food & History!
We'll meet at the first restaurant stop and you'll learn a little more about what to expect from your tour experience. We want to make sure that you have fun, learn a few new things, and end up pleasantly full by the end of your tour. Sample Southern comfort food in a Prohibition-era bar where John F. Kennedy proposed to Jackie Bouvier, sip tea near a canal once used to transport goods to the West, and taste socially-conscious street food that helps feed refugees. Once a thriving port town, Georgetown is DC’s oldest neighborhood and still reveals glimpses of mule-drawn boats and flour mills. Discover Georgetown’s cosmopolitan past, where people from every continent and many religions lived together and built an eclectic culinary community. More than just a premier shopping destination, Georgetown has a delicious and culturally-diverse history that might surprise you. Other things to note The tour goes out in rain or shine so dress appropriately. A potion of your ticket will be donated back to help feed a local in need through our partnership with Bread for the City. Allergies or dietary restrictions? We try our best to accommodate you. Please let us know in advance. Please note: Unfortunately, as our tastings contribute to our story, we are not able to accommodate vegan diets, dairy, or gluten allergies on our Georgetown tour.

French Connections in Washington, DC
This tour explores the French influence on the city of Washington, DC. The tour begins at the Lafayette Statue of Lafayette Square, just steps away from the White House. Your costumed guide will discuss the Marquis de Lafayette's influence during the Revolutionary War and beyond. The tour then walks around Lafayette square, talking about French architectural influences. Further stops include the haunted Stephen Decatur House, where Alexis de Tocqueville spent many a night discussing the ideas that would end up in his book Democracy in America, the former location of the Bodesco Theater, where opera singer Lilian Evanti first sang after she found success in France. The tour then continues to the former Rhodes Tavern, where the original planner of DC, Pierre L'Enfant lived while convincing Congress to pay him for his work. The tour finally ends at the old Washington Salon where the most impactful French Ambassador of DC history gained support for our entry into WWI.
Clue-solving adventure tour of monuments
Gamify your visit to the National Mall with my fun, clue solving adventure! I've created a game that will have you exploring all the monuments and memorials from the Lincoln to the Washington monument and making a memory you won’t forget! The game begins with me, your game host, sharing a brief overview of the National Mall and orienting you to the game. I'll explain the rules, scoring, and game access, which is through a web application I built. From there, I will guide you to a series of locations on the Mall through riddles. At each location, I will share the unique and often unfamiliar significance behind the monument. The game will also ask you a handful of family-friendly questions for each location that require your careful reading, observation, and thinking to answer correctly and score points. Some questions are pretty easy to find the answer for; others will challenge you to think outside the box and make you notice special details about the location that you wouldn't notice on your own! In total, the game takes two hours and we'll visit a number of famous memorials, including - Lincoln Memorial - Reflecting pool - WWII memorial - Vietnam war memorial - Korean war memorial - Constitution gardens - Washington monument Total walking distance is about 2 miles.
White House with former Kennedy staffer
This is a walking and history tour that walks the complete outside circumference of the gated portion of the White House. Prior to 09/11, as a former White House staffer, I could simply show my ID and take visitors in for a tour. That perk evaporated on 09/12/2001, and inside tours must be requested through a member of Congress. An external, walking tour is the next best thing to a tour inside, with my sharing features of major rooms in the White House, the West Wing, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, where my office was when I worked at the White House. In addition to the history of the building and stories about some of its occupants, you get the perspective of a former White House staffer who worked for two US presidents and on the campaigns of two candidates who did not win the presidency. I have met every president who has served during my lifetime, from FDR through the current president. The meet place is outside the White House Visitor Center, on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 14th and 15th Streets, NW. The walk begins by passing through the recently dedicated National World War I Memorial, and proceeds past the Sherman Monument to the Ellipse on the side of the White House, with stories, photographs, and opportunities for questions. Continuing toward the official front of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, we pass the first headquarters of the America
Explore the History of Black Georgetown
This walking tour starts at 3206 O Street NW DC and ends at the Mt. Zion/Female Union Band Cemetery at 2501 Mill Rd. NW. There is a half-way stop at Thomas Sweet Shop for a bathroom break and refreshment. Description: This indepth tour takes guests on a journey through the African American history of Georgetown, a now-exclusive neighborhood in Washington, DC. Someone visiting Georgetown today may see it as another wealthy enclave in a continuously gentrifying Washington, DC. However, this charming area that boasts high-end shopping and gourmet restaurants has a diverse past. At one point African Americans counted for as much as 30% of the Georgetown population. Descendants of enslaved peoples and free black folk have lived in Georgetown for generations, but their contributions to its history do not often receive recognition. This tour will reveal the stories of the black citizens who made their mark on one of DC’s oldest neighborhoods.
