The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum is a museum in Myrtia village in the Heraklion regional unit of Crete, in Greece. It is 20 km south of the town of Heraklion and it is dedicated to the life and work of the famous writer Nikos Kazantzakis.

The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum is a museum in Myrtia village in the Heraklion regional unit of Crete, in Greece. It is 20 km south of the town of Heraklion and it is dedicated to the life and work of the famous writer Nikos Kazantzakis.
In the village of Potamies Pediados, in Crete a village lost in a sea of vegetation, trees, flowers and picturesque brooks you will come across this ancient greek orthodox monastery, a landmark of history. The monastery dates back to the 9th century. Its name "Gouverniotisa" derives from the word "gouverno" which is venetian for "government" as the monastery was a place of authority. After the 15th century the monastery was abandoned and almost forgotten. It took a handful of dreamers, local people, technicians, architects, engineers, and simple people that took it upon themselves to restore, renovate, recover the history, the frescos, the byzantine icons. Just walk the 0.8 fantastic pathway
