Join us for a 3hr historical stumble down the "street of shame". Starting in the shadow of the iconic St.Paul's cathedral, we explore the tiny backstreets and rambling courtyards the ancient City of London is famous for. We follow in the drunken footsteps of literary greats including Dickens, Shakespeare, Pepys & Johnson whilst pausing for a drink in at least 4 of the most historic pubs dating as far back as the 1500's. From discovering art nouveau gems to glamorous Victorian gin palaces we enjoy a variety of pub styles and breweries along the way. It's not a prescriptive tour, so you choose & pay for your drinks along the way. We're here to offer recommendations, and you can often "sip before you sup" with a few tasters on request from the bars along the way. This allows you to indulge as much or as little as you desire! Non-drinkers can soak up the history, and wine & gin-lovers are also well catered for. We usually finish up on the edge of Covent Garden perfect for theatre-land, restaurants and of course more pubs! Other note: - Guests are recommended to be over 18 years of age to enjoy the walk at its best. Experience the freedom of exploring London by bike, just like a local, and get an exciting introduction to the best of London's landmarks and culture. We'll provide you with a gorgeous, hand-built British bicycle and a tweed flat cap (caps optional, helmets also available) and we'll set off on an adventure around London’s iconic sights and lesser-known hidden gems. Following back streets and dedicated bike lanes, you'll ride from Big Ben past Westminster Abbey and up to Buckingham Palace, the home of the Queen, where we'll see the Royal Guards in their dapper uniforms. (Changing of the Guard days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, & Sundays) You'll coast along (London is very flat!) at an easy-going pace, stopping regularly to hear fun facts and some quirky historical tales. There's time to take photos too! We'll then take a break to enjoy a pint of beer at a cosy historic pub where you can get to know your fellow travellers. Lastly, you'll have a chance to try street art in Banksy's graffiti tunnel (and we provide spray paint!). We've designed this route to give you the best introduction to London. Join me as we venture into the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter in London! On this walking tour of London's streets we will watch clips from the movies while I regale you with behind-the-scenes stories of those locations and how they were used in the film series. Our first stop will be the entrance to Diagon Alley, before we pop down to see the Ministry of Magic, and find out which Leaky Cauldron has the best tacos, as well as others I don't want to spoil here. I will also share some of the strangest, funniest non-HP facts I've learned about London along the way. We will finish at Borough Market, London's top street food destination, with King's Cross just a separate Tube ride away. PLEASE be aware the tour is offered in English only, and it is largely story-based, so a better-than-basic conversational grasp of English is essential. On this tour, you'll join me as we explore the city and food culture through the medium of doughnuts. You'll learn about the history of London, each doughnut location, how they fit into the larger food scene, as well as try some amazing doughnuts. Our tour begins near the Borough Tube station at St. John Bakery, where we’ll try their delicious doughnuts to get the tour started off right. From there, we’ll walk up Borough High Street stopping along the way to talk a bit about history, restaurants, pubs, and anything else we feel like chatting about. Our second stop is right near Borough Market, one of the oldest public markets in London, where we’ll sample some more amazing donuts (shown above). Make sure you pace yourself - it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Our third stop is actually in Borough Market itself where you’ll sample some absolutely stunning doughnuts that are made fresh every single day in their pastry school, which is attached. And our last and final stop at Crosstown Doughnuts will give you a jaw dropping view of Tower Bridge that you have to see to believe. First, we'll take you to the famous Borough Market where you will soak up the atmosphere and you are in for a delicious English breakfast. Our second stop brings us to what is possibly Britain's most popular dish as we try award-winning fish and chips. Next up, we sample the best traditional sausage roll in town. There is so much to see in the market, so your guide will give you 10-20 minutes to look around, allowing you a chance to buy gifts or sample some of the many delicious free tasters. Your local guide will explain the history of the market and the surrounding area, including Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hinde, the Shard, and Southwark Cathedral. The tour will continue with a visit to a historic pub, where you'll try a selection of British cheeses, served with fruit, crackers, and chutney, all washed down with some quintessential English cider.
