Three Bays Trail
We will walk a 4.5-mile trail starting in the Hamlet of West Pentire, south of Newquay. We will start by dropping down onto the South West Coast Path that runs along the south side of Crantock Beach. Crantock is a mesmerising stretch of sand. Beginning with this beautiful bay sets the scene perfectly for what is to come on this walk. From here the walk will encompass several different elements. We will find ourselves out on exposed headlands. At the full mercy of the Atlantic, these headlands cop a lot of wind, and waves, so please bring a coat if it's a windy day. If you have a camera pack that too, you won't be disappointed. Away from the cliffs, we will drop down into a valley onto a sheltered secret gem of a beach. If it's favourable weather, be sure to pack your Swimwear. There are also plenty of birds and seals to be seen. There of course is much more to be seen but I won't spill everything here. Turning inland we will head across windswept open grassland where friendly Sheep and Cattle graze. It is highly likely we will encounter these on our walk. We will finish up near the amazing wildflower fields, that If in bloom are a must-see. Late June is when they are typically in full bloom. Of course, no walk is complete without the option of a refreshing pint. Luckily there are two beer gardens, with unbelievable views, awaiting our arrival at the finish line.
Pottery, Prosecco and Pints
A riff on our popular pottery taster workshop, this 2 hour experience is your alternative Friday night. Our signature evening session is great for everyone but designed to be super social - so gather your crew, come for date night, or come alone and meet some new folk. Expect prosecco and beers on ice and the music turned up! (non-alcoholic bevs supplied on request too of course) This short, relaxed and easy-going workshop is designed to inspire you to create your own ceramic homeware pieces - from serving bowls to coffee mugs, trinket dishes or candle holders. Clay can be unpredictable, and this session is about embracing possibility, enjoying the process, the imperfection, and not worrying too much (or at all) if your makes aren’t quite matching your inspo pics. Our tutors will work with you to take your reference images and ideas and translate them into something deliverable within the timeframe. We’re happy for you to play and work towards whatever shapes you like - and our tutors are committed to supporting your vision no matter how big! However they are also expert at helping you refine a big plan into something manageable so that you have something tangible to take away. At the end of the session your piece will be sitting pretty on our drying rack, and if you want to keep it, we’ll get it fired for you just as soon as it’s kiln-ready.
Print making from the studio
Set back from the harbour front within the Sloop Studios the print studio is a chance to get messy in a working makers space. From experiencing hands on carving to making your own print runs. Erin will be on hand to help you with your design and guide you how to make your own stamps or screens. Learn the basics to making a lino block to printing your own fabric samples. All materials are provided with pockets of print knowledge. Other things to note The studio is open to families, one to one workshops and parties. The studio is a very relaxed working studio. Private and public facilities close by. The studio can accommodate and cater to specifics. Please feel free to get in contact.
