Drinks & Nightlife

With its eclectic mix of bars, pubs and clubs, Ariapita Avenue or simply ‘D Avenue’ in Woodbrook, is the Port of Spain’s premier liming spot. On Friday nights, hundreds of people fill up either side of the street to create an electric atmosphere as they go hopping from Latin music clubs to English style pubs.

Food Scene

Set in secluded St Ann's, this is Trini fine-dining at its best. The gourmet creations of local superchef Khalid Mohammed might include slow-cooked lamb shank with cassava risotto and gremolata, or geera-crusted kingfish with tomato choka, aloo gobi and dhal. The five- or 10-course tasting menu is unforgettable, but you can also come for the reasonably priced three-course set lunch.

Arts & Culture

The National Museum and Art Gallery of Trinidad and Tobago is the country's most important museum. It displays depictions of national festivals, Carnival, life during the World War II and artifacts from the country's earliest settlers, the Amerindians. There are also displays by leading local and international artists. The museum was established in 1892 and was originally called the Royal Victoria Institute, as it was built as part of the preparation for Queen Victoria's jubilee.
