Food Scene

This is my favourite restaurant in Reykjavik, is a small family restaurant run by the beautiful Icelandic / Californian couple Íris and Lucas that met in Italy so the menu is all Italian based and they only use raw material so top quality food and taste together with a small and cosy ambient, perfect for brunch on the weekends and aperitivo that can run together with dinner in the evening.

Beautiful restaurant with one of the best chefs in Reykjavik. The building itself is amazing and is located in a perfect spot at the Harbour looking over to Harpa the Concert hall with the front by artist Ólafur Elíasson. In the Marshall house on the upper floors there are few of most of the most vibrant art spaces in Reykjavik; Studio Ólafur Elíasson on the top floor, The Living Art Museum and Kling & Bang artist run space. Ásmundarsalur was built in 1933 as an artist studio by one of Iceland’s premier and most loved sculptors Ásmundur Sveinsson. Throughout the years it has served as an artist studio and residence, exhibition space and art school. It has also been the birth place of some of the most important early avant-garde activities in Iceland. Ásmundarsalur has recently reopened after two years of extensive renovations. The main focus was on bringing forward the original funkis architecture of the building. Ásmundarsalur is a privately run, nonprofit art space that is dedicated to all forms of art and design. This includes the performing arts with an emphasis on highlighting their diversity and interplay between the various art forms. I highly recommend a visit to this unique art space where you can always see something new and exciting happening and relax at the same time with a cup of coffee and often good company!
