Reached after a 30/45 minute walk over rough ground from the small car park at Two Bridges, this small and stunted woodland of 500 year old oak trees is quite something. The trees, mostly stunted by the exposure to Dartmoor weather, are set on the side of a small valley that with a stream running through. The floor of the wood comprises solely of a jumble of lichen and moss covered boulders. Watch your step if venturing within as the rocks are slippery.Best visited early morning, and/or midweek, when you have the place to yourself.
