Food Scene
We love this Thai and Japanese restaurant as the food is freshly cooked and the quality is exceptional. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
If you want to try a French Formule lunch (this is a set menu with many choices and consists of four or five courses including drinks) then we recommend the Hotel de la Valle in Saint Gilles Vieux Marche (5 minutes from Maison des Oiseaux). We love meeting up with the locals and enjoying a good lunch.
French lunch times are 12pm until 2pm and many shops will close for lunch.

On the north coast there is a beautiful coastline dotted with stunning pink tinged granite stones. Here you can enjoy spectacular views across the inlets to the many islands. There are many beautiful towns and villages to stop and enjoy a lunch or evening meal.
On the south coast there is the beautiful forted town of Vannes on the Golfe de Morbihan. There are many islands in the Golfe and a few of them can be visited by boat. The views are spectacular.

Côte de Granit Rose
On the north coast there is a beautiful coastline dotted with stunning pink tinged granite stones. Here you can enjoy spectacular views across the inlets to the many islands. There are many beautiful towns and villages to stop and enjoy a lunch or evening meal.
On the south coast there is the beautiful forted town of Vannes on the Golfe de Morbihan. There are many islands in the Golfe and a few of them can be visited by boat. The views are spectacular.
Pontivy is situated on the banks of the Nantes a Brest Canal and the Blavet river. It is about 30 minutes drive from Maison des Oiseaux. It is a beautiful town with a historic chateau. It has regular markets and on the outskirts of the town is where you will find most of the large supermarkets such as Leclerc, Intermarche, Lidl's, Super U and Aldi.
There is a much smaller Intermarche supermarket in Mur de Bretagne which is ideal for essentials. It closes for lunch (12.30 x 14.30) Monday to Friday but it is open all day on a Saturday. It also opens on a Sunday morning until 12.30pm.
Mur de Bretagne is 20 minutes drive from Maison des Oiseaux.

Pontivy
Pontivy is situated on the banks of the Nantes a Brest Canal and the Blavet river. It is about 30 minutes drive from Maison des Oiseaux. It is a beautiful town with a historic chateau. Parks & Nature
The lake is the largest in Brittany which was drained in 2015 to make repairs to the barrage. Under this lake were the remains of houses and the slate mines. Trees were still standing and old locks could be seen along the Nantes a Brest Canal which flows through the lake. It is a spectacular place to visit with fabulous walks, cycle routes, beaches, restaurants and water sports.
The lake is only 20 minutes drive from Maison des Oiseaux and parking is free.
