Mostly mellow in the early evenings wit leather booths and velvet paintings, totally lively as the clock passes midnight. Some excellent dance nights in this spiffed-up dive that lost none of its charm in the scrub.

Sightseeing
The city has spent buckets of money sprucing up what was once a drainage ditch into a beautiful bike path with cottonwood trees and long arundo grass along the river bottom and birch along the top, a bird sanctuary with Great Blue Heron and egrets. One can even spot fishermen. Cafes and restaurants, bike and kayak rentals in season make this spot an excellent place to run or bike, paddle or peddle. I take this path for jogs and bike rides (the path goes for over twenty miles). It's my favorite mix of nature and city in Los Angeles.
