Sightseeing

Waihi Beach has stunning views from the car park. There is a new coastal walk way to the top of the beach. The incline down to the actual beach is a metal path way - you will need good walking shoes - can be a bit slippery, even in dry weather. Once on the beach keep away from the cliffs -as they are unstable. If you like surf casting, the fishing is good - keep an eye on the tide though, or you could get cut off. Its a rugged coast line with amazing geological strata....you can see fossilised shells in the cliff face, that were on the sea bed thousands of years ago. Just a couple of on the two headlands in times gone by ...it must of been an amazing sight.
