Session Road on Sundays

Spend your Sundays here. The main thoroughfare, Session Road, in the center of the commercial district is closed to vehicles and opened for pedestrians. There are several stalls with food, curios for shopping, plants, pets, chalk art, buskers and street performers. Best to visit in the mornings. WARNING: It can get pretty crowded in the afternoons when most buskers appear. An ideal time would be strolling in the morning if you're not into crowds.

The latter, provided that you have the same itinerary/arrival date with the rest of your companions. Each person travelling will be issued a QTP after the registration is approved. EXPECT HEAVY TRAFFIC AND LONG LINES EVERYWHERE

Baguio is a major tourist destination. Expect lots of people particularly during weekends and holidays. Don't forget to pack comfy shoes and a lot of patience! Walk or take public transpo! Parking is such a hassle, especially in downtown Baguio and tourist areas. Jeeps and taxis are abundant. Get that heart pumping and those muscles working by walking to your destination. You'll appreciate the climate and the city more on foot than seated in a metal box on wheels. Remember not to complain about the slow vehicular traffic because if you bring your own car, you ARE part of the traffic :).

Baguio Folk

Here in the North, most local folk are more soft-spoken, laidback, and polite compared to their lowland counterparts. You'll notice a stark difference in temperament. Almost everyone knows how to fall in line, wait for the pedestrian light to turn green before crossing street, speak in low tones in public spaces, and clean up after themselves.

SKIP THE MALL and FAMOUS CHAINS

Do yourself a favor. Buy local, support local. Get your groceries from the local stores, buy fresh produce in the market, forego the well-known food chains. Go to mom-and-pop shops, hole-in-the-walls, home-grown businesses. Ask us where these are. It helps you get better prices and at the same time supports the local economy. Ditch the mall.

MANILA to BAGUIO - Your Bus Ticket

Quickest way would be by bus from Cubao, Quezon City or Pasay City. You can take either: -Victory Liner -Joybus (Genesis) Both of these offer 'first class' trips that are point-to-point. It's a faster 5-hour ride (sometimes shorter, if you take a 'red-eye' sched) with no stopovers. They offer wider seats and more legroom, charging docks, Wi Fi. Price range is around PHP 800.00-PHP 999.00 per ticket. You can reserve tickets online. Pasay is closest to the airport. The ticketing counter will check your vaccination cards and ask for an ID.

ANNUAL BAGUIO FLOWER FESTIVAL (February - March)

This is Baguio's iconic flower festival. The busiest tourist event in the city after the Christmas and New Year holidays. Held every year in the month of February spilling over to March, expect fairs, concerts, pageants, streetdance performances and float parades. Expect HORDES of crowds, tourists from all over packing the streets, establishments and attractions. Most of us local folk rarely leave our houses except for errands during this period due to the sheer volume of people and heavy toll of the festivities on traffic and services. But hey, a party's a party and everyone's invited.

Baguio Domestic Airport

If you are looking to visit Baguio and are coming in from abroad, skip Manila and book a flight to Cebu from your country of origin. Cebu is the only city that has direct flights to and from Baguio that fly three times a week. This saves you precious travel time (5-7hrs) by bus to Baguio if you'd landed in Manila. Navigating Manila's Airport and streets can also be quite stressful. From Baguio's Domestic Airport, you can ride a jeep headed to the city proper for only PHP 19.00 or a cab for upwards of PHP 200.00.
