Beach access and hiking
Pretty beach and some easy hiking trails around the park. Small admission fee.
Grayton Beach State Park
Quiet beach about 3 miles west of the house. There is a small admission fee. You can get to the beach with a free tram ride of about a mile through a pretty coastal pine forest, hike there, or bike in. Tram leaves on the hall hour during the tourist season. There are paved roads and hiking trails for walking or biking. There is a lake in the campground that has canoes for rent. The beach has a shower and rest rooms.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park

This access is just a short walk on 30A to the right (west). It doesn’t have rest rooms or a shower so it isn’t as crowded.

This access is just a short walk on 30A to the right (west). It doesn’t have rest rooms or a shower so it isn’t as crowded.
This is my preferred access. Turn left on 30 A, then turn right at Goatfeathers. There is limiting parking but you can drive to the access and drop people and supplies off. There is also golf cart parking if you rent one. There is an outdoor shower, rest rooms and lifeguards during the tourist season.

Gulfview Heights Beach Access
186 Gulfview Heights StThis is my preferred access. Turn left on 30 A, then turn right at Goatfeathers. There is limiting parking but you can drive to the access and drop people and supplies off. There is also golf cart parking if you rent one. There is an outdoor shower, rest rooms and lifeguards during the tourist season.
Food scene
Fresh seafood market just a block away form the house. They have fresh local seafood and limited specialty grocery items. You can buy shrimp and have them seasoned and steamed for free. Try the smoked tuna dip and the artichoke crab dip.
The restaurant upstairs is good with early bird specials for meals or fresh oysters in season.

Take a trip back up highway 30A and the Bay Restaurant is located on the right side with parking across the highway. Specializes in fresh seafood and good sushi. There is a beach area on the bay where you can enjoy a drink if you have to wait, and let the kids run around.

If you like thrift stores this is a good place to start. Proceeds support treatment programs for men with addiction problems. This picture is their store in Sandestin, but the local store is on Highway 98 just about a half mile to the west of Highway 393.
