Highland is on the east side of Asheville not too far from the house. A great large indoor and outdoor spot to grab some food truck bites and some beers. Picnic tables outdoors as well.

Black Balsam Knob is about an 1-1.5 hours up the Blue Ridge Parkway, but it's surely worth the drive. Bring layers as it can get chillier at the higher elevation. The hike is mostly easy to moderate and boasts epic views above the tree line. Especially amazing in the Fall!

Hike the Catawba Falls Trail east of Asheville, trekking through a mossy, shady forest valley to a beautiful series of waterfalls on the Catawba River. A wide mostly easy path for most of the way. It's gets a bit steeper as you get near the top but remains fairly moderate. Some swimming holes along the way if the weather is nice.

Asheville has Uber, Lyft and Asheville Ride. Due to the pandemic, we hear staffing has been down with all ride share companies so plan extra time for pick ups. Rumor has it that Asheville Ride is the best. Got a big group? Ask my co-host, Mike, about renting the party bus. 🎉
