การเดินทาง
Easiest way to get around.
Definitely Gojek/Grab app is the helpful one for you. From getting from 1 place to another, buying food, until sending something to someone. Get local sim card to register to the app. (Telkomsel will be most useful everywhere).
If you can drive motorbike, rent one is also of the best choice to travel around Jogja. The price range between 70k-120k, depends on the motorbike.
If you have a lot of time, then Trans Jogja bus is the cheapest way. Keep in mind that you may need to change bus several times to arrive at your destination.

The sweetness of Jogja
Jogja is famous for their sweet taste bud. So if you order Ice Tea (Indo: Es Teh), expect to get a very sweet Ice Tea. To avoid it, ask for Tawar or Tanpa Gula (No Sugar) or Sedikit Gula (Less Sweet).
Other helpful things for you:
No chili : Tanpa Sambal or Tidak Pedas (Not spicy)
No meat : Tanpa Daging or Hanya Sayur (Veggies Only)
Thank you : Nuwun (Java) or Makasih (Indo)
Excuse me : Nuwun sewu (Java) or Permisi / Misi (Indo)
How much : Pinten (Java) or Berapa (Indo)
Bro : Mas (Java), Sir : Pak
Sis : Mbak (Java), Mam : Bu

You can buy ticket from their official website to avoid the queue: ticketcandi(dot)borobudurpark(dot)com/en/
Please note there's a slight difference in price between the access to the temple structure and access to the temple ground (yard only).
To go to Prambanan or Borobudur, there's a direct transport called DAMRI. The transport will be at Malioboro, in front of Bank Indonesia. Ticket price is IDR 50k per person (only for the transport).

Register Your Phone IMEI (for foreigner)
Since 2020, there's a regulation that require you to register your phone IMEI number so you can use your phone in Indonesia if you're going to use local sim card.
If you stay less than 90 days and you want to use local sim card, you need to buy sim card at the official office of the provider (I recommend GRAPARI Telkomsel), and ask them to register your IMEI.
If you just want to rent a MiFi (Mobile WiFi), then I can recommend javamifi(dot)com.

Weather in Jogja
Dry season is usually from April to September. But with the global warming, we can never be sure anymore.
But, June to August is the highest peak of dry season. It will be very hot in the afternoon, but cooler at night.
Better to bring your sunglasses, hat, sunblock, comfy sandals or shoes, and definitely lightweight clothes. If you plan to go to the temple, you will have to use appropriate clothes.
Wet season usually from October to March, with the highest peak usually from November to February. Definitely bring a raincoat or umbrella and a good grip walking slipper or waterproof shoes.
