Lovely walks

There are so many wonderful walks locally I couldn't include every single one, so here's a collection of my favourites.
A beautiful Jacobean stately home, the estate of which you can walk to from our house (turn right out of the drive, walk past both pubs, and walk onto the cricket pitch on the left at the cross roads. Look left and you’ll see the estate leading away from you there). It’s covered in footpaths and there’s a great circular walk which takes around an hour, depending on your pace! The house and formal gardens are also absolutely gorgeous, you need to drive to the entrance for these and there’s a small fee for entry (at the moment you have to book in advance). https://godintonhouse.co.uk/

One of our favourite walks, the views are insane! About 15/20 mins drive from the Old Barn. https://explorekent.org/activities/wye-downs-walk/. Eat in the Kings Head in Wye after - YUM. Or if you have kids the New Flying Horse is a great option as there's a big beer garden with a playground to keep them busy.

you can either walk on the Sissinghurst Castle estate (both in the formal gardens and in the general estate) or along some tow paths around the village and it is madly beautiful. Eat/drink at the Milk House. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/sissinghurst-castle-garden

Beautiful local heathland reserve about 10 mins drive from The Old Barn. Hours of walks here, beautiful woods full of enormous ancient trees (lots of climbing for the kids). Home to wild ponies and highland cattle, a little like our own version of The New Forest. https://www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/nature-reserves/hothfield-heathlands.
