Salem is a small town just off I-15, tucked up next to the mountains with an elevation of 4,610 ft. It's a quiet, friendly town with safe neighborhoods and great people. Historically it was a small farming community centered around the natural bubbling springs that feed into Salem Pond. The secret of it's beauty and serenity has invited more development however, and currently Salem has grown to nearly 8,000 residents and several businesses. It now has 3 elementary schools, a middle school, jr. high, and is proud to be the home of the Salem Hills High School Skyhawks.

Food scene
The people of Salem love our grocery and hardward store, Stokes, not simply for the convenience, but for the community support and friendly service they provide. The store is not large, but tends to have just about everything we could want. The produce is fresh and the prices are very reasonable.

Not much to look at, but makes great pizza and several different kinds. Our favorites are the Chicken-Bacon-Ranch and the Chicken Alfredo pizza. They also make delicious jalapeno cream cheese bread sticks. They make a lunch special with a salad and pizza that is convenient and quick. If you don't want to drive the mile & a half down to pick it up, then they'll deliver.

Besides being a close place to fill up your car, they make some decent food as well: burgers & fries, shakes, hot chocolate and coffee with the additional flavors, and the best breakfast burritos in the state, according to my sons!

Sightseeing
Knoll Park, with the historic Salem Pond, is the center point of interest in Salem. It's only a mile down the road and has great fishing, kayaking, a walking trail, picnic tables, and playground. If you happen to visit during late November or December, don't miss the chance to drive or walk around the pond to see the many lighted Christmas trees floating on the water. It's a stunning sight, and free!
