No trip to the area would be complete without a visit to Melin Tregwynt. It's both a working mill and a superb cafe.

One of the best places to eat on the peninsula... and it's only a 5 minute drive from the house! (9am-10pm, booking advised 01348 831518)

The Sloop Inn is a charming old smugglers pub overlooking the green and next to the harbour. It's a great spot for a cosy pint in winter as well as getting sun in your face whatever the season whilst sitting out front. There is a games room with a pool table and duke box to hang out in. Food is good too. There is often a game of football in full swing on the green with all ages and abilities making up the sides playing into goals made from fishing nets!

The Farmers Arms in Mathry is a great little pub that does food too. Friendly bar staff and a great selection of beer. The Skomer Island Pale Ale is a classic and only available from this pub group.

Porthclais is a tiny harbour down the lane from St. Davids. It's the starting place for kayaking trips and a spectacular circular walk around the headland. The Kiosk does high quality coffees, drinks, cakes, ice-cream and toasties. Definitely worth checking out!
