There is also a delicatessen, The Game Larder, for specialist products and treats, Vera's coffee house and bistro, bakery , post office, chemist, petrol station, hairdressers, florist, bicycle hire and lots more.
Buckland Abbey owned by The National Trust is nearby.

6 miles away Tavistock, standing on the fast flowing river Tavy , has been voted Britain’s favourite market town and it’s easy to see why. You will find a wealth of individual specialist shops, the historic remains of Tavistock Abbey, the Pannier market, attractive Georgian and Victorian architecture plus a huge selection of eating places ranging from somewhere for a quick snack to a restaurant for an excellent and leisurely meal.
There’s a tourist information centre, cinema, theatre, and swimming pool. As you enter the town you will pass three supermarkets.
The Pannier Market is open Tuesday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 pm.
The Farmers Market held on the second fourth and fifth Saturday of each month (9am -2m),also in the town centre, is the place for fresh local produce.

High on the moors is Princetown, a centre for hill walkers, and known for its prison which has held several notorious villains including Mitchell the Mad Axeman. It is home to the Dartmoor National Park visitor centre and the Dartmoor Prison Museum.

Just 5 minutes drive or half an hour on foot across the Moors. By car turn right on the road to Meavy then left signed Burrator. Ice cream van regularly found by the reservoir. Dozens of spots to walk and picnic.
