The REAL DEAL when it comes to quality, vintage mid-century modern. Much of the furnishings at Stardust Retreat have come from Bonneville. Beautiful, incredible collection of true period pieces, all high quality. The retro vinyl selection in the back is super fun to browse. If you love mid-mod, you will love exploring this store. Collectors actually come from all over Texas (and even out of state) just to buy pieces here. facebook.com/bonnevillecoleman

I absolutely adore this boutique - it's my favorite in town, and I don't think I've ever been there without buying something I "couldn't live without" (and most all have been among my favorite things after). Not only is it a fantastic shop (and happens to be owned/run by my friends Annette and Roberto) - but they have a great little cafe in the back that serves a set-menu lunch Monday through Friday. If you're in town looking for a weekday lunch spot, look no further!

Old-time "department store" (in the small town sense of the word!). Lots of fun stuff for kids, clothing, gifts, etc. Cute to browse through and friendly staff. Check out the antique cash register!

Fun little vintage and gift store that's set up like an antique mall, with different vendors having their "booths" or sections. Just fun to browse for sure, you never know what you will find! Another similar one is Odd & Company, check that one out too!

Upscale, beautiful shop full of clothing & jewelry, home goods and gifts, and even some gourmet food items. Bonus: It's in the space that was Earle Smith Jewelry (original builders and owners of the Stardust home) for more than 70 years! Don't let the Abilene location on the map confuse you - there's a second store on Commercial Avenue in Coleman.

Gourmet olive oil shop and tasting bar. All of their olive oils are imported from Tunisia from olive groves that have been producing olives for thousands of years. Hand-harvested and relying on only rainfall, the Tunisian olive trees have stood tall producing only top-quality olives. Tunisian olive oil is some of the most sought-after oils in the world. Coleman Olive Oil Co. also has a selection of balsamic vinegar, imported from Modena, Italy, along with a wide selection of simmer sauces, bbq sauces, baking mixes, hand-made pasta, and other culinary items.

Food scene

The newest restaurant in town, and unbelievable! You could be in Houston, New York or San Francisco at this upscale steak house (although my favorite dish here is the branzino - that crazy water is fantastically delicious!). Great food and ambience, a must-eat. Reservations highly recommended in advance, at least a week or two if possible!

I promise you, this just might be the best pizza you've ever had. At least in the top 5 I'll bet! It absolutely is in my top 2-3 ever. Fantastic spot, a wood-fired pizza oven, and delicious food (not just the pizza - the goat-cheese filled and roasted peppers are my favorite thing on the menu), great wine and beer selection. It's a super hip little joint with a fun decor and nice atmosphere. GO! Check out this story in Texas Monthly: https://www.texasmonthly.com/travel/just-back-from-coleman/

This is the second oldest drugstore soda fountain in Texas, and the longest continually-operated (since 1923). The soda fountain is JUST FABULOUS - check out the 1910 antique, elaborate one-piece wood and stained glass bar behind the fountain. Serving fabulous burgers, breakfast, and all manner of ice cream treats. It's a total step back in time and the burgers are AWESOME! Besides the soda fountain, the gift shop is really nice, with a great selection of upscale boutique finds in the home/gift/baby/personal care categories. I wrote a story about Owl for Texas Highways! Donut forget this place! Nice spot to grab quick to-go breakfast stuff. Family owned and run by a very sweet lady. They have not only fresh, daily scratch-made donuts, but also kolaches, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast tacos/burritos, and more. The mural is a great Instagram spot!

Good southern home-cooking place for things like burgers, steaks, fried catfish, taco salads, etc. The food is fresh and good, service is good, and it's a great place for families. Check out the Bull Bar next door too.

Very basic, unassuming, family-run Mexican food cafe. The food is pretty good Tex-Mex (though they have some things like burgers too). Nothing whatsoever fancy, but if you're craving tacos or a good Tex-Mex breakfast, it's a good place. I almost always eat here at least once. No wine or beer is served, but you can BYOB no problem!

Wine/drinks

The RLV Wine Bar on Commercial Ave. in Coleman is so fantastic. By Rancho Loma Vineyards just outside town (also owners of Rancho Pizzeria across the street), this gorgeous wine spot is in a beautifully redone historic space. Decor and artwork is sublime, huge fireplace for cool evenings, and they often have live music. Just wine, except for their once-a-month full wine dinners. Great pre-dinner spot! 21+ only.

The Bull Bar is part of the Cattle Drive Cafe, and a fun setting serving up good drinks. "Willie," the mascot, is a huge (and anatomically correct) bull that hangs above the bar.
