Just a few minutes from my place, in the very lively rue Montorgueil. Since 1832 the cult recipe of Burgundy snails remains unchanged and it is this tradition that makes them incomparable. A real treat for epicureans who will also discover new variants such as the recipe with truffle or foie gras.

It is one of the most popular jazz clubs in Paris, just a few blocks from my place, across the famous place des Innocents. In a cellar worthy of the New York cradles, orchestras, pianists and saxophonists make the Sunset a must. In the heart of the rue des Lombards (the «rue du jazz» in Paris), it is a must-see place that consists of 2 rooms that can accommodate a hundred people each. The Sunside on the ground floor, is devoted to acoustic jazz, and the Sunset in the basement dedicated to electric jazz, electro-jazz and world music.

A mojito in hand, a trendy group mixing jazz and funk, and a warm atmosphere where amateurs and connoisseurs meet: here is the triple promise of the « Baiser Salé »(Salty Kiss), nestled in the now famous Lombard street. Europe's largest collection of modern and contemporary art (oh yes, there is a difference!) is housed in a building that was deemed to be architecturally daring in the 20th century. The building features plumbing and piping on the outside and Picasso and Pollock on the inside. And to top it all off, from the rooftop you'll find gorgeous views of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

The L'Oasis d'Aboukir is Patrick Blanc's new Living Wall or "green wall" in Paris. Blanc began seeding the wall in April 2013, and it now provides a lush facade in central Paris, within walking distance of Rue Montorgueil. Standing 25 meters tall, the vertical garden is planted with 7600 plants representing 250 different species. While it may not be a top site in Paris like the Eiffel Tower, it's a fascinating piece of urbran art in its own right, and worth taking a look if you're in the neighborhood https://www.verticalgardenpatrickblanc.com/node/4676

While most of the Quartier de l'Horloge, or the Neighbourhood of the Clock, in Paris is dreary concrete, the mechanized timepiece for which it is named is a stunning automaton called "Le Défenseur du temps," or "The Defender of Time." Unfortunately, it was frozen into action for more than a decade. Even in its frozen state, it remained a spectacle. The epic scene of man vs. nature was made by French artist Jacques Monestier in 1979. On a craggy landscape of brass, steel, and gold leaf gilding, a metal man with a massive sword engaged in battle with a dragon, rooster, and crab on the hour, except three times of day when he was barraged by all three. The animals represent the ground, the sky, and the sea, respectively, and the sounds of the earth moving, the wind, and the waves would soundtrack the battles. While the man always won his battles against the animals and time marched on, funding for the preservation of the clock dwindled. But in 2022, it was completely removed for an extended restoration process. After nearly twenty years of stillness, people can once again see the defender of time valiantly do battle with the sky, earth, and sea once more. The automaton has been repaired and reinstalled and at the beginning of each hour, between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., will move for approximately two minutes. At 12 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., the man fights all three animals at once.
