Good, classic restaurant, nicely situated in centre town Hämeenlinna. Our other guests have recommended Piparkakkutalo for tasting reindeer.

Nice scandinavian style home goods and delicacies shop and integrated café at a farm just outside Hämeenlinna. Their speciality is waffles made of broad beans. They are a broad bean farm and factory as well. Perfect for a coffee stop or for lunch.

The tower café is situated by the Aulanko historic sight tower. Take a break from the National Heritage park for a break in the tower cafe or the Joutsenlampi kiosk. In the surroundings of the café you will find the magnificent scenery of the observation tower, the Karhuluola and many other interesting places to see. To prevent disappointments; the café is not in the tower but near it ;) Opening hours of the café: Open daily. In May from 12 to 5 pm and from June to August from 11 to 7 pm. Destinations and experiences

Places to see and experience near your house in Iittala and in the surrounding region.
Visavuori is about 20 km from Iittala to direction Tarttila/Sääksmäki (Visavuorentie 80). www.visavuori.com. Famous Finnish sculptor Emil Wikström (1864-1942) created this unique and beautiful environment with his ateljée, familyhouse and garden. Nature and view above the lakeside is great! The old museum also has a wonderfull café/lunchplace caled Vaniljahelmi (vanillapearl) and everything I have ever tasted there is delicious. Also other exhibitions in the Kari-paviljong which is dedicated to a cartoonist/satir-artist Kari Suomalainen. Unfortunately this new building is a good example of architectury gone wrong in a traditional landscape..

Naivistic art exhibition at Iittala Glass Hill (yellow old wooden house at the top of the hill, next to the big school). Over 30 years of naivistic art in Iittala, there must be something in the drinking water..!

The Iittala Glass Factory hosts glass blowing shows for free. Next to the factory at the Glass Hill you will find Iittala outlet-shop (good glassware bargains and beautiful shop), Finlayson pop-up linen shop and Kultasuklaa chocolate factory and other handicrafts. There's a an outside play area for kids too.

The area of Aulanko National Heritage Park is situated right in the city of Hämeenlinna and is exceptional to offer such pure nature delights so close to the town. The observation tower is recommended even to overcome a possible fear of heights. The landscape is beautiful! Opening hours of the tower: Open daily. In May from 12 to 5 pm and from June to August from 8 am to 7 pm. Free entry. Lots of stairs but they are worth it!
