High quality, tasty southwestern food. New Mexico beef, all natural chicken, and wild-caught salmon. Their tacos and nachos are so good.

Cloudcroft is just under an hour's drive from the cabin, but if you like great wood-fired pizza and tasty beer and a beautiful drive, it's definitely worth your time. The town of Cloudcroft is very quaint and cute, and you're almost guaranteed to see wild horses along the way there. Us locals love going to Cloudcroft Brewing for lunch or dinner, and we love their outdoor seating area which is especially great for kids because it's completely enclosed. If you're going to visit White Sands, you could take the detour through Cloudcroft on your way back. It's only about 20 minutes from Alamogordo.

Awesome Italian food. They're usually busy though, so it's best to call for a reservation. We recommend the shrimp diavolo!

Delicious breakfast and lunch. And really great for the kids too :) So many great things on their menu, but I would definitely recommend starting with their fresh orange juice!

If you’re in the mood for Mexican, definitely visit Jorge’s. Our favorites are anything with carnitas or al carbón, and the mini tacos are my favorite. Mouth watering! It’s in the Downs, but it’s worth the 10 min drive.

If you've never been to Ruidoso, you definitely have to check out Ski Apache. Of course there are all of the snow sports in the winter, but it's actually open throughout the whole year with other activities. They have one of the longest, highest ziplines and lots of mountain biking! You can even just enjoy the drive up there, and then ride the gondola up to the peak for some amazing 360 views.
