Guidebook for New Orleans

Food Scene

This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. It's Creole Italian, and serves the best fish dishes in the city. It's up a flight of fairly steep stairs and cash only so keep that in mind. But, it's worth it for sure.

My favorite burgers in the world. They all come with baked potatoes instead of fries. Port of Call also has some potent, tasty drinks; perfect for wandering the Quarter! The wait can get long, but I think it's worth it. You can beat the line if you get there at 11 AM right when they open.

Great refurbished market. Now is an upscale food hall. I get my coffee here about three times a week at Coast Roast Coffee. There's also a great oyster bar with really good local raw oysters. There are several other vendors with yummy food.

Fancy Pants New Orleans restaurant. You have to try at least one. Commander's has 25 cent martinis at lunch (yes, you read that right). Great to get dressed up and have a fancy lunch. Also, it's across the street from Lafayette Cemetery which is a typical New Orleans cemetery with the above ground graves and community vaults.

Drinks & Nightlife

Bacchanal is super unique. It's a wine store where you buy your wine and cheese and meats and then head out to the courtyard to listen to live local music. There's also a kitchen with an ever-changing, delicious menu. Also, there's an indoor, upstairs bar if the courtyard isn't your thing. Unique experience.

Best dive bar in the city. Cheapish drinks, super cute outdoor space. You'll generally find locals here. Bar Redux has funky theme nights ranging from trivia to burlesque shows to movies on the patio. Great menu with yummy bar food too.

Fats Domino's house! You can't tour it or anything, but it's neat to see where he lives.

Really great museum focused on WWII. I don't have much interest in military history but still think this is a fantastic museum.
