Sightseeing
11 Mile loop Rd with old homestead cabins, churches and a small community that includes an operating Grist Mill, Cables Mill, sometimes the blacksmith shop is operating and in the fall for several weeks they are making sorghum molasses.
It is a fun and educational day plus it is a great place to see bears and other wild life.
Take a lunch or at least some snacks and something to drink as nothing is available in Cades Cove.

11 Mile loop Rd with old homestead cabins, churches and a small community that includes an operating Grist Mill, Cables Mill, sometimes the blacksmith shop is operating and in the fall for several weeks they are making sorghum molasses.

Similar to Cades Cove but right in town. Much shorter time commitment. Where Cades Cove takes 1.5 hours to drive too each way, the Roaring Forks trail is 5 mins outside of town. Good place to see bears

Short hike to awesome views at the highest point east of the Mississippi. On a clear day you can see a bunch of states. But remember you are in the Smokys and often it is well... smokey looking. Also the AT crosses through right at the base of the cement tower.

Clingmans Dome Visitor Center
Clingmans Dome RoadShort hike to awesome views at the highest point east of the Mississippi. On a clear day you can see a bunch of states. But remember you are in the Smokys and often it is well... smokey looking. Also the AT crosses through right at the base of the cement tower.
If you want to see the Elk in the park this is your best bet. It is a beautiful drive over the mountains through the park towards Cherokee. The elk have been hanging out in this area for a few years. During the fall is a great time at the rut is on and you can see the bulls vying for the harem. If you are lucky you will hear one bugling.

Ober Gatlinburg is a ski resort in the winter. You can get there by driving or taking the tram up from Gatlinburg. The tram is located on River Rd on the south side of town. In the summer they offer Ice Skating, alpine slides, mini golf, mazes, amusement rides, a mountain coaster and a chair lift that takes you to the top of the mountain where they have the best views and often a blue grass or country band playing music.

Why not stop in and do a moonshine tasting then go out into the hollar and listen to live local music. Nice way to chill and relax. Obviously the tasting is adults only. But the music can be enjoyed by all.
