Lovely places to enjoy

There are many amazing villages. lots of natural beauty and great places to eat and drink locally.
Elsecar village has a Heritage Centre. Try visiting the craft shops or the markets there, when there are antiques fair on. Alternatively, go for a ride on the steam railway in summer or take a look at the Newcomen pump house. There are many beautiful walks around Elsecar, such as Elsecar Lake, with cafes, play areas, band stand & Simons wood for nature walks.

The Yorkshire sculpture park always has something new. If you like a challenge the walk is hilly but beautiful. The cafe shop and gallery are also great for an interesting visit.

Canon Hall has some lovely walks in the grounds of the House. The Hall itself is very interesting and historic and is free to enter. There are a range of luxury shops & cafes with a great farm shop. Products are expensive but homemade and specialist, worth a treat. The animal farm is nice to wall round but needs booking and an extra fee. Paid parking is available.

Canon Hall has some lovely walks in the grounds of the House. The Hall itself is very interesting and historic and is free to enter. There are a range of luxury shops & cafes with a great farm shop. Products are expensive but homemade and specialist, worth a treat. The animal farm is nice to wall round but needs booking and an extra fee. Paid parking is available.

Sightseeing

Wentworth is a historic village, with varied amenities including a quality garden centre and restaurant with shops, tea rooms, church, walks and sometimes local fayres. Buy gifts or local foods; visit the pet farm or local pubs or see the historic follies. It also has a beautiful country house, three dams, deer park, history tours (pre - book) and walks.
