Chesterton is about a 20 minute drive from Michigan City. On Saturday's there is a really nice farmer's market featuring local fruits/veggies, artisan vendors, baked goods, and several food vendors. If the Rolling Stone Baker is there definitely try one of their pizzas. It is WORTH the wait. After the market pop over to Running Vines Winery for a nice glass of wine on their outdoor patio. They feature live music every Friday and Saturday.

The casino is very close to the property - in addition to fine dining, gambling, and of course live music, the casino has a really great spa. Surprise your special someone with a massage or day at the spa! Just be sure to do so in advance of your stay.

Sheridan Beach

Sheridan Beach is a straight shot down the road. About an 8 minute walk. There is little to no street parking. Should you choose to go to Washington Park Beach, you will need to pay to park. Once you get to the end of Lake ave, there is a dune to walk over. This is Stop 3. I recommend going over the dune and heading to the right. Stop 2 is known as more of a party stop which would be heading to the left once you get over the dune.

Michigan City and Southwest Michigan (think New Buffalo, Three Oaks, Baroda) have a rich music scene. Here are some of my favorite places to catch bands. Most are all ages, but be sure to check business websites to be sure. Lake Michigan Safety Tips

I absolutely love having Lake Michigan in my backyard! The beach is my happy place for sure. Safety Tips - Bring life jackets or floatation devices Check out the Washington Park Lifeguards page on Facebook before heading down to the beach to check the flag status. Green is good to go. Yellow is use caution. Red - steer clear of the water due to high waves and rip currents or undertows.
