This outdoor food and farmers market is only open on Saturdays (10am–2pm), but it's well worth the 10–15min walk – especially if the sun's out. We love Crosstown donuts and the dumpling stall.

Neighbourhoods

Widely considered the trendiest area in south London, Peckham is full of great restaurants, lively bars, creative spaces, busy shops and cafes. This is where we'd go for a late night drink or a dance (plus, it's less than a 10-minute taxi ride home). Our favourite places are: Forza Wine (pictured) for wine and skyline views, YogaRise for downward dogs, Peckham Levels for street food and a lively atmosphere, The Begging Bowl for Thai food, Artusi for upmarket Italian , Peckham Bazaar for Balkan, The Victoria, Brick Brewery, Peckham Riviera or Ray's personal favourite The Montpelier pub for beers. The Carpet Shop and Bussey Building are great nightclubs too.

A historic area famous for its park, beautiful old buildings and food market. It's a really nice place to spend a morning or afternoon. Our favourite places are: Greenwich market, The Painted Hall and the Royal Naval College, The Royal Maritime Museum, Dark Sugars, Trafalgar Tavern, The Old Brewey, Gypsy Moth pub which has views of The Cutty Sark – a famous ship. The restaurants in Greenwich aren't that special (Franca Manca, Sticks + Sushi, GBK, Bill’s), so we'd recommend eating at the food market if you can.

This is one of our favourite neighbourhoods in London, partly because there are so many great places to eat, drink and shop. Highlights include: Oddono's for ice cream, Oru for coffee, The Palmerston for a pub lunch, The Actress for pizza, Franklin's for Dinner, The East Dulwich Picturehouse for films, and North Cross Road Food Market for food stalls (Saturdays 9am - 5pm).

Although still 'up and coming', Deptford is likely to be the next creative and cultural hub in South London. Our favourites are: SALT for beer and pizza, Little Nan's Bar for cocktails, Marcella for lunch or dinner (it's the sister restaurant of Artusi in Peckham), Steam Down for drinks, Planet Wax for records, FOREST for plants, Le Petit Village for London's best fruit, TILA for lunch/dinner, STOCKTON for cocktails and small plates, Little Faith Taproom for craft beer.

A quaint and typically English village, right in the middle of south London. This is a great place to go for a walk after you've explored East Dulwich. We recommend Gail's for a pastry, The Crown & Greyhound for a pint, Christ's Chapel for a wander, Dulwich Picture Gallery for an exhibition, Flotsam & Jetsam for a coffee, Dulwich Park for a stroll, and a walk around the gates of Dulwich College for a look at one of London's most famous private schools.
