Southwold is a great seaside town. Its only 15 mins driveway. If you like a slightly quieter beach, it's a good place to go, either 1st thing before the crowds or in the late afternoon (grab some fish and chips on the way through town). A good place to park, is if you drive through the town, you go past the green, down a slight hill and round a left hand bend. There is a small free car park to you left, or further down a pay and display on your right, past the sail loft. This end of the beach has dunes and a wider strip of sand. At this end of the beach, by the beach huts is a small beach shack, selling great baccon rolls and coffees etc. The rest of the beach is great to, take a stroll past the beach huts and on the pier or down towards the harbour. You can also get the ferry over to Walbeswick across the river.

Walbeswick is the next beach South of Southwold. Its a quiet little village, with a few shops and two pubs. The beach is beautiful, with small dunes. Walbeswick is the place to go crabbing. You need some baccon in your crab lines and go hang them over one of the bridges into the river.

Dunwich beach is a single beach. you can park in the free car park right by the beach, there is also a fish and chip shop there or you can pop over the road to the Ship Inn. There's a walk you can do from the car park, that takes you up to the old ruined Abbey. Dunwich used to be a city but long ago it was swept into the sea. Further along the beach (you can drive there) is Dunwich Heath.

Above photos are not of the Waveney in Bungay. If you fancy a quiet canoe along a beautiful small river, then head to Outney meadow caravan park in Bungay and hire a canoe for the day and do the bungay loop. This part of the river is only big enough for canoes and swimming. Its beautiful n a warm summer's day.

Halesworth is a beautiful small market town, with many independent shops, a butchers, green grocer's, café's, two pubs and many other shops. The Angle Hotel is a great pub for a coffee or a drink, it does great food and has a very good Italian restaurant attached to it. The town also has a train station and a very good kids play park, for smaller and older children, it also has skate ramps and a walk through the meadows called the millennium walk. Its a tarmacked footpath, so good for wheeled vehicles, including bikes and prams and it meanders through the grass meadows and under the railway line.
