Home to the iconic Dartmoor prison, this village is in the middle of Dartmoor. Visit the Dartmoor Prison museum, grab a coffee from a cafe and your necessities from the local shop. Visit the Two Bridges Hotel for food & drinks, the home of 'The Hairy Hand'. After go on a circular walk to Wistmans Woods, allow 2hours for this and wear comfortable walking shoes. 35minutes drive.

Home to the iconic Dartmoor prison, this village is in the middle of Dartmoor. Visit the Dartmoor Prison museum, grab a coffee from a cafe and your necessities from the local shop. Visit the Two Bridges Hotel for food & drinks, the home of 'The Hairy Hand'. After go on a circular walk to Wistmans Woods, allow 2hours for this and wear comfortable walking shoes. 35minutes drive.

This village is home to a few cafes and shops, and is best known for its village fair and its church known as 'The cathedral on the moor'. One of my favourite places to visit, as it feels as if you have gone back in time walking around.

If you have a national trust membership, then access to this place is free! Lovely walks around the garden, dog friendly (except inside the castle), cafe, trails and a castle to explore. 25minutes via car, and right next to Fingle Bridge. Make a day of it.

Perfect for a walk, a bike ride, to rent a kayak or pedlow, or visit a restaurant for dinner. Shops and ice cream shops line the side of the quay, and there is a bowling alley and clip and clip within 5 minutes walk to the quay. You can walk, paddle or cycling down to the Double Locks Pub, stop off for some food or drink, and then return. 15minutes via car from the barn.
