Arts & Culture

A great place for history buffs. Brilliant collections of fascinating historical items (most of them locally sourced), and their accompanying stories or explanations. Suitable for all ages. Make sure you find out all about the famous old ferry, the Lady Denman. If you don't spend all day in the museum, head out the front to the tidal fish pool to watch the huge flathead, snapper, bream etc devour the bags of fish food available from the wharf. Then take the northward bushwalk to the grey mangrove boardwalk out into picturesque Currumbene Creek to finish a magical day. Interpretive signs reveal lots of amazing facts about your enchanting surroundings as you move along. NOT to be missed!

Shopping

Huskisson Markets happen on the 2nd Sunday of each month. You'd be amazed at the range of curios, old wares, tools of all varieties, plants, food, rides, drinks, clothes etc that are on display and sale. Huskisson also has a pretty impressive number of eclectic little shops catering for a huge variety of tastes and styles in food, furniture, crafts, jewellery, clothing, sports activities etc. If you've got kids to occupy, grab an ice-cream and a box of hot chips, and take a stroll over to the 'Spider Park' where you can sit down for a spell (and watch your kids risk life and limb on the rope climbing structure). If they survive that, stroll down to the headland (Voyager Park).

Essentials

Well... maybe not a hub for romance, iconic scenes, stunning views, peace and quiet (although nothing's impossible for the imaginative or opportunistic!) BUT it's a large, well-stocked, clean place to get provisioned for the holiday of your life...AND its only 1min drive from our place at Gumden Lane! (or a 5min walk for a light shop). There's also several specialty shops in the complex (pharmacy, $2 store, hairdresser, op-shop etc).

Food Scene

OUR favourite restaurant...just a 2min roll down the hill to the waterfront for some of the best food and coffee in the region...and the prices don't make your eyes water! No nicer place to eat al fresco on a mild, warm day...or move indoors for a lovely meal with good friends looking out over St Georges Basin.
