On the boulevard is a free nature center. This is great to visit especially with children. In the summer they have loads of free events such as a hike on the beach or the dunes with a guide. All completely free.

Katwijk is a religious village. On Sunday most inhabitants go to the church and their families.

The 'wurft', or boulevard, is the pride of Katwijk aan zee. But make sure you don't walk the 'skobbeldedonk' (walk of shame), then it is better to buy new clothes in the nearby 'durp' or the village. In Katwijks this does not mean the entire village, but only the pleasant shopping center just behind the boulevard surrounding the white church. At the fishmonger you can order a tasty portion 'garrend' - this is the local term for shrimp. Other expressions to remember are the 'koffie is boâl' (the coffee is ready), 'striempje cake' (a slice of cake) and 'k heb kik en bun' (I'm full).
