On April 23, 1862, 35 people from the Satsuma clan radical group Arima Shinchichi (1825-62) and 35 other people planned to kill Sekishiro Kujo Naoada (1798-1871) and Kyoto Shoji Shiyodai, Despite the oppression, both fought, and nine people under Arima died (Teradaya riot). Ryoma Sakamoto (1835-67) was also attacked by Fushimi Magistrate's capture on New Year's Day 21 (1866), but escaped. Teradaya was damaged and destroyed in the battle of Fushimi Toba (1868). The current building has since been rebuilt.
