Food Scene

This local restaurant used to be just a food truck, but they had such success that they opened a restaurant. They have delicious wood-fired pizza and a great atmosphere, and better yet it's just down the street from this house.

This local bakery was started by a couple with a passion and talent for bread baking, and boy are they good at it! There isn't anywhere to sit inside the bakery, so plan to pick up your bread/baked goods and head somewhere else to enjoy them.

I thoroughly enjoy a cup of well-crafted coffee, and in my opinion Goodman Coffee Roasters has the best cup of coffee in town. It's located inside Warehouse Row, which is an iconic indoor shopping area that also boasts an Anthropology, J Crew, Lululemon, Woodhouse Day Spa, and some boutique stores.

The setting for this coffee house is stunning, and a must see for anyone wanting to experience what Chattanooga has to offer. The menu and pastries are all delicious, and make sure to walk around the block and enjoy the arts district and the amazing views of the river.

This hidden restaurant has the best Greek food in Chattanooga, maybe the best Greek food in the Southeast. It's a little hole in the wall where the owner takes great pride in the quality of the ingredients and the flavor of his authentic recipes.

I can't recommend this tiny restaurant/bar highly enough. This location started out as only a butcher shop/meat market specializing in local grass-fed/pastured meats, and then expanded into a small restaurant where they serve the meats they prepare for their storefront along with fresh and creative ingredients.

My own kids enjoy this children's museum very much, and it's a great place to let the kids spend some pent up energy. There's a paid parking lot right behind the museum, and plenty of street parking within walking distance.

This aquarium is a very popular tourist destination, and for good reason. There are two buildings to visit: a fresh water "river journey" and a salt water "ocean journey" so make sure to allow plenty of time to see everything.

The Chattanooga Zoo is on the small side, but it is landscaped beautifully and on the occasions we have visited we've observed the animals being very well taken care of. My kids love the fennec foxes and I always get a good giggle out of the emperor tamarins' mustaches.

Parks & Nature

Did you bring kids with you? This is one of our favorite playgrounds because it's surrounded by a lot of wide open space to run and play, has a soccer field, a couple pavilions, and some grills available to use on a first come first served basis.

This old-style wooden playground is just 3 minutes from where you're staying and is fenced all the way around. There are only two gates in and out of the playground which makes it nice for little ones who like to wander.

The Pumpkin Patch Playground is THE ultimate playground. It is most definitely NOT a pumpkin patch. Currently under renovation - check facebook for status updates https://www.facebook.com/pumpkinpatchplayground This is the playground my kids beg me to take them to. It's a little farther than we usually drive for a playground, but it's really not that far. It's just up the road on Signal Mountain, which is a plus in the summer because it's just slightly cooler up there and the playground has a lot of shade. I highly recommend this playground for picnics, or if you want to spend some time letting the kids burn some energy. The parking lot is tucked away behind Walden Town Hall.

Ross's Landing is a large grassy area on the riverfront downtown, perfect for kite flying, picnicking, photographing, and having a good time in general. There's even a playground for the kids! It's within a short walk of the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, Cold Stone Creamery, the stadium where the Chattanooga Lookouts play (baseball), and lots and lots of great restaurants.

Arts & Culture

The Chattanooga Market is technically a famers/artist market, but I categorized it as "Arts and Culture" because it's such a fun place to just walk around and enjoy the live performances, people watch, or "window" shop. This market is only open on Sunday afternoons (except for the winter) and is always very crowed, but they have plenty of parking. Most of the market takes place under a large pavilion roof, so it could be good for a rainy day too. Lots of local food trucks usually show up at the scene, so it can be a fun place to eat lunch, too.

Sightseeing

The Walnut Street Bridge is a Chattanooga icon. It has some intriguing history as a railroad bridge, but is now exclusively a pedestrian and bicycle bridge. The views are incredible and there are lots of fun places to window shop, eat, and sightsee on both sides of the bridge.
