Guests can choose from a range of activities in our part of the world. Our farm La Belle Esperance Adventure Farm is ideal for hiking, leisurely walks, birding and cycling. Don’t forget about the historic battlefield at Majuba Mountain up the road. It’s where British and Boer soldiers fought in the First Boer War in 1882. The small town Memel is popular for its hotel breakfasts and few antique shops. Nearby is the Seekoeivlei Nature Reserve with antelope, bird life and two of the big “six” - Hippo and Buffalo. It is also one of the biggest wetlands in SA. Then you can try Wakkerstroom with its many speciality shops, eateries, antique and book shops. They also offer great fishing, hiking and birding opportunities. Being another large wetland it attracts a large variety of birds. Further down the N11 you’ll get to Newcastle which boasts a casino, modern shopping malls etc. Nearby is the Chelmsford Dam which has antelope and smaller game. The list can go on. Enjoy.

Wakkerstroom. Here you get to experience the charm of a small rustic town with small shops, eateries and numerous concerts and markets. Hop in your car and drive out on the gravel roads is when you'll get to see fantastic bird life. The farmlands are also home to large flocks of Merino sheep and herds of large red coloured cattle. The cattle also serve to entice bald-headed ibis to gather in large flocks. The list goes on.
