FEDDET – A unique peninsula
Feddet is a 2.000-year-old peninsula, formed by beach ridges. Sanding from northeast makes the peninsula still growing wider. The underground consists of deposits of sand, gravel and flint. Therefore, the ground is very poor in nutrients and there is a unique animal and plant life. The flat landscape almost resembles the moors of Jutland. To the east is the largest moor on Zealand, covered by heather. To the south are salt marshes, to the west grass fields grazed by sheep. The central parts of the peninsula is covered with oak, pine and birch forest. In many places, only the sounds of nature are heard.
