Lud’s Church is a deep, moss-covered chasm full of history, myths and dark green wherever you look. Situated close to the Roaches in Leek and through Staffordshire’s Back Forest, this 18 metre deep chasm was caused by a giant landslip, which over the ages has been covered from top to bottom in vibrant moss.

Lud’s Church is a deep, moss-covered chasm full of history, myths and dark green wherever you look. Situated close to the Roaches in Leek and through Staffordshire’s Back Forest, this 18 metre deep chasm was caused by a giant landslip, which over the ages has been covered from top to bottom in vibrant moss.
This beautiful Dove Stone Reservoir walk takes you briefly into the stunning Chew Hills and moors of Dove Stone Moss, and then returns for an easy circuit of the lovely Dove Stone Reservoir, with fabulous open views of this beautiful area to the far north west of the Peak District National Park.

This beautiful Dove Stone Reservoir walk takes you briefly into the stunning Chew Hills and moors of Dove Stone Moss, and then returns for an easy circuit of the lovely Dove Stone Reservoir, with fabulous open views of this beautiful area to the far north west of the Peak District National Park.
Impressive gritstone edges and craggy rocks loved by walkers and climbers. It groups together two main gritstone outcrops - Ramshaw Rocks famous for the Winking Man rock formation and 'Hen Cloud' offering stunning panoramic views.
