Arts & Culture

Pittsburgh's best offerings for art, culture, science, and history.
The Carnegie Museum of Art, The Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and the main branch of The Carnegie Libraries are all housed in one building. It offers world class changing and permanent exhibits, a cafe, music and lecture halls, etc. Definitely worth a visit if you're interested in art, museums, natural history, etc.

The first and only contemporary art museum dedicated to installation art! It features an artist in residence program where artists are invited to live and work on site at the museum while creating site-specific works. Located in a beautiful and historical walking neighborhood called The Mexican War Streets. Take a walk and don't miss the views from the top floors of the museum.

Sightseeing

Located at "the point" (where two rivers converge to form the Ohio River) in downtown Pittsburgh, Point State Park is right on the water. Walk the paths and around the fountain at the point and you will see a 360 degree view of Pittsburgh--downtown, the South Side, Mount Washington, West End, the North Side, stadiums, etc. There is a history museum that chronicles the history of Fort Pitt/Fort Duquesne on site. Its a truly beautiful and unique place to take a stroll.

The Strip District is Pittsburgh's market district. Its great to take a stroll up and down the streets and take in the foods, drink and specialty shops. Our favorite spots are: Colangelo's (delicious Italian food and baked goods) La Prima Espresso (freshly roasted and brewed coffee) Pennsylvania Macaroni (specialty import foods--great cheese selection) Presto George's (coffee roaster and teas) Commonplace Coffee Loom (fabric store) Roxanne's Dried Flowers (gifts, custom made wreaths and flower arrangements, plants) DeLuca's (breakfast diner, famous for its french toast) Enrico's Biscotti (fresh biscotti and baked goods, and cafe)

Take a drive up to Mount Washington for spectacular views of downtown Pittsburgh and the surrounding neighborhoods. There are multiple lookout spots and two incline trains that are vestiges of the city's industrial past, still used today for public transportation and sightseeing.
