Indie music venue in the centre of town housed in a former bookshop. Intimate, relaxed hangout run by musicians, there's always something happening, from ukelele lessons on a Monday lunch, to poetry readings, and damn fine local and interstate performers.

Whisky bar upstairs in town, intimate and tucked away but fills up on a weekend. We met there (in its earlier incarnation)

Parks & Nature
Mount Majura (860m) sits behind the Purple House a 15 minute walk away. Great trails through the nature reserve. Climbing to the top for views over north Canberra. The Yellow Box Red Gum Grassy woodland is home to lots of local birds, and animals, including kangaroos, possums, parrots and many types of lizards. Many species of wildflowers and orchids, depending on the season. You can access by walking the path outside our back gate, which connects to Antill Street cark part entrance (or drive or ride there). Approx 1.5 - 2 hours return to the top and back. There are dirt trails for mountain biking and dogs on leash are permitted. Take a walk - its a beautiful way to start your day.

This is the best independent grocery store in town. They stock local breads, wines and gourmet food products. Their massive mouthwatering cheese selection includes local and imported varieties. They also have a good range of fresh produce, some local, and all the essentials in a small friendly store with easy parking so you don't have to tackle the supermarket chains. (There's a bottle shop next door, great local pub and cafes)
